Further Details

Wolverhampton Carer Support team supports informal carers that may be looking after a friend relative or neighbour with a disability. The person they look after may have a mental health need, physical/sensory disability, may be a older more vulnerable person, or have learning disability. One of our support workers also supports parents/carers of children with disabilities.

Through a Carers Assessment we identify specific needs for the carer and provide support and advice to meet those indiviual needs. This may be through emotional support and advice or maybe through providing respite care (subject to conditions).

Carers are given an Emergency card which provided peace of mind so if a carers was to have an accident or emergency the card would identify them as a carer and would alert the emergency services to contact social servcies to put the agreed emergency plan in place.
