The Raphael Medical Centre is an independent hospital, registered with the Care Quality Commission, specialising in the neuro rehabilitation of adults. We are known as a unique leading holistic service provider for those suffering from complex neurological disabilities with cognitive and behavioural impairment. The main Raphael Medical Centre is situated in the 17 acre Hollanden Park in Hildenborough, Tonbridge, Kent.
Over the past 25 years there have been some major developments to create facilities conducive to holistic rehabilitation. This is fully supported in our peaceful and tranquil environment, which helps people move on from a state of medical dependency and reach their optimum level of functional independence.
They are then supported to live independently with community care support or supported to a fully integrated lifestyle in their own family home.

Patient description
Medically stable, but low awareness or response persists beyond eg 3 weeks after sedation withdrawn, ICP corrected and medically stable. Able to benefit from medical and physical therapy to prevent complications and support recovery.

Assessment/active rehabilitation phase which needs to be distinguished from long term care, although planning care increasingly important aim after some (eg 6) months. Patients may go to active participation unit if they improve sufficiently.
